Service opportunities include working at our pantry, sorting items, cleaning, making deliveries  to clients, hanging up clothing in our clothing closet, delivering meals to the home-bound, serving meals at our senior luncheon and many other ways.

Senior Meals to the home-bound are delivered to seniors 60 years of age or older by volunteers Monday, Wednesday and Friday. ASCET Program-a monthly food program for low-income seniors in Kent County (formerly known as the “cheese program”)

Senior Meals Programs, INC delivers meals to seniors living in the Cutlerville, Byron and Caledonia areas. Meals are delivered Monday, Wednesday and Friday by volunteer drivers. Joni Knoch is the site coordinator of the program for the Byron Center area. We are always looking for drivers for this program. The rewards are great. One senior described it this way. “Each meal comes with love.” If you are interested in being a part of this vital ministry, please give us a call at 878-6000 ext. 13.

Personal Care Distribution

Offered to needy persons or families monthly. This is available each Monday 3-6 p.m and Wednesday from 11a.m-2 p.m

Clothing Distribution

Available to all clients free of charge. This is each Monday 3-6 PM and Wednesday from 11AM-2PM.

Senior Luncheons

Held at noon at BCM on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from Sept.-May.

Treasured Singles (Widows Group)

The Treasured Singles is a group designed for widows. Whether one has been widowed for a couple of decades or is brand new to the role, this group is warm, welcoming and understanding.

We meet once a month for food and fellowship, quite often taking field trips to interesting destinations. RSVP’s are usually required so we may better plan transportation and food needs. Please call 878- 6000 and ask to speak with Donna, who leads the Treasured Singles. We have room for you! We’re eager to meet you!

Upcoming Events for the Treasured Singles:

August 15 at 7 PM- Watch the movie, “The Secret Life of Bees” at Byron Ministries. Snacks will be provided. The event is free. 878-6000.

August 28- A bus trip to Muskegon for the day. Cost is $13 plus your lunch expense at On the Deck located on the Pere Marquette Beach. We’ll also visit The Cheese Lady store, the farmer’s market and oh yeah! We start the day at a bakery! Call Donna to sign up. 878- 6000.

Mid-September- We’re taking a dune scooter ride on the dunes at Silver Lake! Lunch will be at Golden Sands Golf Course. Cost is $30. Call now to reserve your seat!

May 17- Movie night at Byron Ministries and dessert. Starts at 6:30 PM. Cost is $2.  Call to sign up.

June 20- We’ll have dinner and “what not” at Donna’s home. Call for details and to sign up.

July 25- We travel to Saugatuck for lunch in town, followed by a paddleboat ride. RSVP to Donna at 878-6000 Ext. 10.
